About Anne

Anne Goossens

Clincal Psycho-Neuro-Immunology (kPNI) practitioner

MSc Clinical Psycho-Neuro-Immunology

I support people with persistent health complaints who want to better understand what is happening in their body and what they can do themselves to support their health.

Rather than looking at the symptom in isolation, I look at the bigger picture. Nutrition, lifestyle, stress, sleep, the immune system, metabolism and your personal history can all play a role in how symptoms develop or persist.

My role is to unravel this puzzle together with you. I explain in clear terms what may be happening in your body and why. From there, we build a personalised toolbox with targeted, achievable interventions that you understand and can put into practice yourself.

This gives you not only greater insight into your symptoms, but also concrete tools to take a more active role in your health.

From insight to agency

My story

Why understanding makes all the difference for me

My interest in health and recovery grew not only from my studies, but also from personal experience. During my treatment for breast cancer, I became very aware of how professional and essential medical care was, but also of how little room there was for the question that mattered most to me:

“What can I do myself to help my body recover?”

I followed the treatments, but at the same time I mostly felt like a patient: someone things were being done to, rather than someone who could still take an active role in her own health.

That experience led me to deepen my knowledge of health, nutrition and recovery in a more professional way. Over the years, I completed various training programmes, always driven by the same question: how do processes in the body interact, and how can nutrition and lifestyle support recovery?

Eventually, this search led me to clinical psychoneuroimmunology (cPNI). Many pieces of the puzzle fell into place. I found a coherent biological framework for understanding how the immune system, nervous system, hormones and metabolism continuously interact, how they are influenced by nutrition, lifestyle, stress and life circumstances, and what can happen when the body remains under pressure for a long time.

That understanding became the foundation of how I work today. Because insight gives you agency.

When you understand which mechanisms may be playing a role and why a particular intervention may be appropriate, symptoms become less like something you simply have to endure. You can make more targeted choices and better understand where you can take action yourself.

That is exactly what I want to give you: not only advice on what you can do, but also an understanding of why. This way, changes in nutrition, physical activity, sleep or stress regulation are not isolated instructions, but understandable choices that you can put into practice yourself.

I work alongside medical care and place great value on collaboration with other healthcare professionals. My role is to give you insight and knowledge about what may be happening in your body and where you can take action yourself, so that you can actively take part in your own health. You remain in control and decide what is right for you.

I originally trained in science and graduated as a materials science engineer (KU Leuven, 1991). That background still shapes the way I work today: analytically, critically and with a strong focus on understanding underlying mechanisms.

I work with clients in Dutch, French, English and German.

Professional affiliations

I am a member of the professional association NWP and the umbrella organisation NAP.

These organisations set requirements regarding, among other things, professional quality, continuing education and professional ethics. This ensures that I work within clear professional and ethical standards and continue to develop as a practitioner.
